Perplexity Rank Tracking monitors where your brand and URLs appear inside Perplexity's AI-generated answers.

Since Perplexity cites sources in almost every answer it generates, there are 2 visibility signals worth tracking: Links (URLs cited as sources) and Mentions (your brand name appearing in the answer text).

How is tracking Perplexity different from traditional SERP tracking?

Traditional SERP tracking measures where your URL ranks in a list of search results (the 10 blue links).

Perplexity generates a written answer and pulls in sources (URLs) to support it.

That means your visibility is measured differently:

Whether your brand gets a Mention in the AI answer
Where your URL ranks within the linked sources

If your brand does not appear, or your URL is not included as a source, ProRankTracker shows the result as “N/R” (Not Ranked).

What is a Mention in Perplexity?

A Mention is when your brand or product name appears in the text of a Perplexity answer, without necessarily being linked as a source. Pro Rank Tracker captures the sentence where the mention appears so you can see exactly how your brand is being referenced.

What is a Link in Perplexity?

A Link is a URL that Perplexity cites as a source in its answer. ProRankTracker tracks where your URL appears among all cited sources and shows your ranking position within that list.

What can I track in Perplexity?

You can track two types of AI visibility signals:

Can I see my competitors’ results?

Yes. When viewing Link results for a tracked prompt, you can see all other URLs Perplexity cited for the same prompt. You can also add competitor brand names to track their Mentions inside Perplexity answers.

How often are AI results updated?

PRT checks AI visibility daily, just like regular SERP tracking.

AI answers can change frequently - sometimes your link or brand is visible, and sometimes it isn’t.

With weekly or monthly checks, you might miss entire visibility windows.

How is AI Rank Tracking priced and counted in my plan?

AI tracking uses Terms from your quota.

Each AI prompt + URL + platform/location = 2 Terms.

If you track the same prompt across multiple locations or platforms, each combination counts separately.

Organic rank tracking is simply 1 Term per keyword combination, for reference.

For example, 1,000 Terms = 500 AI prompt combinations, or a mix of AI + organic tracking, depending on how you allocate them.
